Foundation of Aquatica

Written by Pookas Kreations

This is the beginning of an exciting homebrew world that indulges my passion for the Age of Sail history in the D&D context.

I've added many concepts that I would like to expand on in the future. I love fantasy, steampunk, and sci-fi genres. My world will even have magitech, a combination of magic and technology. Aquatica allows the freedom for me to run various genres and players to choose almost any race. Instead of standard Medieval Fantasy, my world has newly created magitech skyships. Exploration is now possible in a whole new way, and massive swathes of undiscovered territory cry out to be explored!

Adventures on Aquatica can vary from dark and broody to light-hearted and heart-warming. It all depends on location and what country and race is involved.

A characters' gameplay has a cooperative feel, depending on how the campaign goes, it can have little or far-reaching consequences. This can have good or bad consequences. Because I want the gameplay to feel epic, characters a choice to get a wild talent, mutation, background feat or a skill bonus at first level. Often heroes have humble beginnings but can end up changing the world.

There are various recurring themes on Aquatica.

  1. That strong nations/societies that think they know better than young/less developed people. This often ends in the "lesser" people being overshadowed or controlled by the "greater" ones. Ex: When the Atlanteans arrived they "uplifted/forcibly evolved" many of the younger races" because they were thought to be too primitive and needed to be shepherd into their future (of slavery to their overlords).
  2. After the Chaos Wars, many ruins are still being rediscovered after being forgotten for centuries, often because of the taboo of the Atlantean technology.
  3. There are still many places that are uninhabitable from wild magic corruption. Some of the surviving races have taken it upon themselves to cleanse the problems of the past.

Sky gnomes control the technology, if you buy one of their technological items, it needs to be brought back to them for repair.

If you like to play in a fantasy world with elements from fantasy, steampunk, technology, magic, aliens and the fae wild. This is the world for you!!

You can pick and choose custom races, character classes and equipment from any or all of the genres listed about.

This world can be tranquil and peaceful or dangerous and contaminated. The Chaos Wars were fought with both magic and technology. Many of the contaminated areas were caused by wild magic storms, as a result of an overload of magic. This even caused Planar Rifts in space and time.
