Dragons
The oldest sapient species, dragonkind dominated the skies, land, and occasionally the seas of Apteros until their near-demise by the moon's shattering. They possess a wide variety of combative adaptations, often unique per individual.
Basic Information
Anatomy
All dragons possess 6 limbs, typically consisting of two wings and four legs, although there are unique individuals with specially adapted limbs which break the norm. Skeletal structure is semi-hollow to reduce weight and allow flight.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragons are egg layers with an extensive brooding period. Newborn dragons, called whelps, are often able to fly and feed themselves independently mere hours after hatching. Though some dragons choose to care for their offspring, most whelps will eventually leave their family group to live on their own.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Very poor, especially during wartime. Most dragons view themselves as above other creatures, sapient or not. Lesser dragons are considered subordinates to dragons and are often addressed by generalizations rather than per individual. Dragons only perceive other "true" dragons on equal footing, yet even then, there is a strict power-based social hierarchy. Only the titanic rulers of the underworld, Basilisks, have been able to strike fear, and correspondingly respect, amongst dragons.
