Draconic

"Draconic" describes the guttural, roaring dialect of Dragons. It was the first language on Apteros to have a written form, dating back to the Tide's End, when the passage of knowledge from dragon to whelp became paramount in a swiftly crumbling landscape. With their only predator, Basilisks, attuned to the unique frequency of Draconic roars, the necessity of written language was made apparent as dragon populations declined. Draconic symbols are characterized by deep, heavy claw strokes carved into the writer's medium of choice, usually stone or clay.

Geographical Distribution

All dragons and their genetic relatives can innately understand Draconic, but few in the modern era can speak it. Other species have immense difficulty understanding Draconic, and lack the vocal intricacies required to speak it.
