During the onset of the Scourge Albion Cane was also one of the plants that survived without suffering great mutations, they didn't achieve sentience and eat people like so many other plants of the time. How ever because of their flavor, or the fact they absorbed mystical and magical energetic properties, they became a favorite and east snack for wild Scourge beasts.
This also, played into the fairies advantage for survival however, useing fields of Albion cane they were able to lay traps for beast and mutant. Some Fairy clans ever when so far as to using the Albion Cane in poison as to kill the beast.
Others used the plant to tame them, further aiding in the defense of there land for when the roaming tribes sought fairy land as an easy raid they wouldn't expect the scores of fell beast that the fairies had tamed with the famed concoction.
It wasn't long however before the Albion Cane was used in narcotics and it was discovered how much it actually enhances the high one receives.
This has lead to the Fairies and in turn anyone looking to get into the drug business to invest heavily in Albion cane, and thus it is highly protected by the fairies.
