The Meeting of Birds
Yarda is at a bar minding her own damn business.
the bar is open area, the entry way is an open wall so the entire side is exposed when theyre in business
sleezeball walks up and starts chatting up yarda and she hates it
yarda reaches for her kukri knives when she hears some angry chanting from behind her
yarda and the sleezeball turn around to see a woman glowing with rope wrapped around her right hand as she chants
the woman uses a spell and the rope to ensnare the sleezeball, she yanks on the rope and launches him into the air
the woman begins signing and chanting- signs for sun, blaze, and target
the entire bar starts heating up around her before she launches a marble like sphere into the air after the sleezeball
it curves through the air and explodes on impact making a really bright orange light in the sky
she walks over to yarda and apologizes for the incident, yarda is surprised that an official looking person would just kill someone for being a sleezeball
the woman lets out a small laugh, questions if yarda wasnt aware that he was a husk
yarda doesnt know what ahusk is and is embarrasssed
the woman explains that husks are the remnants of a person after theyve been in contact with a dead zone and become a foul. most foul are elimanted before that point but when the body breaks down and the aether is fully devoured, the abomination sheds the human corpse and becomes a tier 2 foul. the husk sort of reanimates and has some kind of kinetic memory and lives a loop until someone disposes of it. her squad took care of the abomination a few days back and had just tracked down the husk to this bar. you can tell someones a husk by the way their bodies sort of flak and reform emitting small specks of glimmering light as quintessence tries and fails to reform the body. yarda is embarrased again, she was so focused on ignoring the man, she didnt notice how the rest of the patrons had distanced themselves from her and sleezeball and the fact that his body was deteriortaing right next to her.
the woman laughs again and orders a drink before asking if she can inspect yarda for any residue. shes asks if she "is with the aether" to which yarda responds that she is giftless. husks themselves dont generate deadzones like abominations but sometimes they can leak foul magic onto others and cause them to fall ill. they're usually attracted to magus since their bodies crave what it is missing, but she guesses that yarda's beauty outshines the allure of aether
the woman checks yarda for any scratches, spit, blood, and other stains and clears yarda
yarda thanks the woman and offers to pay for her drink in gratitude
the woman agrees and introduces herself as Leytha
