Pseudonymous Deet - the journalist

Pseudonymous Deet (a.k.a. Pseu)

When asked about her name she will reply that her parents were idiots. "They thought 'Pseudonymous' was a flower." She thinks pretty much everyone is an idiot. She spends a lot of time rolling her eyes, sighing, and rubbing her temples.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

She is a 21 year old female of Hmong descent. She is 5' 1" with an average build. Her straight hair is dyed maroon and cut in a bob cut with short bangs. She has winged eyeliner.   Her general appearance is someone who is well put together, tightly controlled, stylish, and practical.

Physical quirks

She smokes when stressed. She is often stressed.

Apparel & Accessories

She wears a double breasted, tight-fitting wool military-style dressage coat with large buttons and leather straps. It has a very tall collar which she can zip up to her nose. The coat is waist length in front, but has buttoned on tails.   Under this she wears a fitted, tucked blouse of a sturdy material, and a full, layered, knee-length, box-pleated skirt of a muted color (with an underskirt). It is held together with brass buttons.   Her shoes are fashionable boots with sensible heels.   All of her clothing is pre-apocalypse haute couture which her expert eye spotted for sale in various used clothing shops.   She wears circle lens mountaineer sunglasses with leather side shields in lieu of goggles. When not in use, she pushes them up on top of her head.   Her La Mucha cigarettes each have a maroon scrollwork foil label over the filter.   She always carries a leather satchel with the strap across her body. The satchel has her camera, film, notepad, and pencils.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Her parents were conservative farmers who wanted her to be a farmer's wife. Pseu had other ideas and taught herself about literature, journalism, and fashion. She was always the smartest child in her small country school. After reading the entire meager school library, she began corresponding with the library in the county seat.   When her parents attempted to lay down the law and force her into an arranged marriage, she skipped town. Hitchhiking to Manhattan, she aggressively pursued a job with the biggest newspaper in the country. She landed a position as a reporter, but to her annoyance, her talents were not immediately appreciated. Furthermore, she was dismayed by the poor literacy levels and slovenly ethics of her coworkers.

Education

Pseu is largely self-taught, but is on par with a pre-apocalypse college graduate from a liberal arts program.

Employment

She works as a cub reporter for the largest newspaper in the country.

Intellectual Characteristics

Pseu is whip smart, driven, and impatient. She sees the world as one giant obstacle, continually getting in her way. She could be witty if she were more often in a light-hearted mood, but instead she tends to be cutting. She has little time for anything that won't further her career.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Pseudonymous is intensely driven to become the most famous and respected journalist in the world. She intends to leverage that reputation into owning the largest and most prestigious newspaper in the world.   She has expensive tastes and refuses to settle for mediocre.

Virtues & Personality perks

Allowing Pseu on the crew will provide them with a cash bonus.   The player doesn't know it at the time, but Pseu is smart and can offer good advice.   Once the crew has shown themselves to not be complete idiots, they will earn her respect and potentially, friendship.   The newspaper is willing to pay 10 million monopoly, or whatever is needed to get the truck ready to run the great race (whichever is larger) as long as the crew is willing to take on a reporter.

Vices & Personality flaws

She can be extremely acerbic. She will mock every failure in the most withering manner. Then she will publish the story.   She's not exactly dead weight, but she doesn't contribute as much to the success of the mission as the other crew members, yet she eats food and occupies a cot.
