A conjunction or opposition, especially of the moon with the sun.
Summary
Our universe works by the will of a great filter, to present oneself before the filter is to choose. Our prophets say that in the Shattered Ocean this decision will be made, and most of us will be powerless to stop it.
Historical Basis
The final conflict in the campaign is based on the idea of the Great Filter: a theory that there is a meta-physical barrier that all species must encounter at some point in their evolution. Species that pass the filter continue to exist and thrive, those who do not, perish.
Spread
There are stories of gargantuan beings ranging in size from buildings to entire mountain ranges, since almost none of the stories are the same, none of the stories are confirmed as canon by the city.
Variations & Mutation
The story was originally a vision about potentially cataclysmic events and the fate of the universe, however, since its inception and lack of fulfillment, it has become more a tale of folklore and is popular as a young children's story about respecting people with differences.
In Art
Sinewian art depicts the Syzygy as humanities' next evolutionary step. The most famous portrayal of this is a painting by the Knight Margo, where the pair walk together on an endless plain with humanity side saddle on their backs.
