In the beginning of time, a great chaos rang out in the darkness. 6 heavenly forces began to mold into bestial shapes imbued with elemental power; Light, Shadow, Earth, Fire, Water, & Wind. These 6 Beasts, the First Six, would go on to form life as we know it. Each mastered their own craft and began to shape the new world how they saw fit. With a sanctuary created, the Beasts used their respective magics to create children in their image. Over many cycles, these children began to form their own primitive societies. Life exploded from each primordial puddle, evolving rapidly as it mingled with the remaining vestiges of magical essence. Not wanting their children to be lonely, the gods willed the souls of mortals into their own, animal-like forms. These Steelegangers walked side by side with their humanoid counterparts, living and breathing as one.   Tensions among the First Six over power and land ownership finally came to a head and what had once been a sanctuary was plunged into war. In the end all would have to come together to defeat the Goddess of Shadow and the vile monstrosities she summoned. The followers of the Dark Mistress were banished alongside her, soon forgotten in the passages of time. Wanting to learn from their mistakes, the final 5 rebuilt the world so that their children may live on. Each of the 5 took one share of the world and heaved it into the heavens where they, and their children, would remain safe. These Heavens have since become the capitals of society and where life has flourished. Each uniquely different and governed by their own respective religious sects. Welcome to the world of Apeiron, a world of innovation and evolution. A world where magic and machinery have synchronized.   Those who have been raised alongside civilization, who’ve spent their formative years in the cloud-sphere, have all heard the creation story that has been passed down generation after generation. It’s been multiple millennium since the last of your ancestors took steps on the dark continent below. Life has evolved here in the skies, in these Heavens. Elementalism, the combining of sciences and the arcane, has sling shotted humanity into an age of innovation. Industry has flourished at a breakneck pace. Advances in technology allow for the complete homogenization of magic and machinery. Elementalism had become a thriving enterprise, improving the lives of thousands of people through fantastical feats of automation. Each sprawling city buzzed along at the pace of its own dedicated magical energy reactor, powered and overseen by skillfully trained elementalists. Ingenious contraptions like the Skyships that connect the scattered aerial homesteads are just one of many inventions that have come about thanks to progress in elementalist studies. While many have put stock in the sciences to pave the way to our future, faith in the divine still holds exemplary power. Theocracy has prospered, adhering rigidly to the words of the patrons. Acolytes of each element spend their devoted lives to understanding their patron’s meaning, witnessing their presence, and role in nature. The arcane words of magi have become the law and total governance of the realm. In all, civilization had reached a prosperous and harmonious present.
