Submarine Piracy

There are some Syreni on the Blacksites who don't care about settling down and instead keep roaming different planes and places in their Bioid in the search of smaller Bioid's which they can overtake and rob, or look out for fish to kill and sell.

Another one of their money making tricks is called 'Coral Extortion' and is only possible to do on Blacksites in which most Syreni depend on the coral reef they made their home in, to give them shelter, protection from predators and produce oxygen. Coral reefs are made out of chitin and their skeletons are arranged in such a way, that the oral disc that serves as their mouth, is protected at the centre. Furthermore, their skeleton has a kind of bark around it with spikes and polyps in them which have tentacles, used to catch and digest food or sting to defend the coral reef. Their main source of food are other polyps.

Pirates use this knowledge and a biotechnology crafted in the image of muricids and ovulids, who have the ability to imitate Polyps and get access to the centre of the coral reef in that way. Once there, they eat up all the Polyps, that the coral reef has captured and stored.

Instead of eating these Polyps though, Pirates extract them and take them with them on their way back out of the coral reef. The Polyps are necessary for the survival of the coral reef and if too much of them get stolen, the reef is in danger of dying and with it its inhabitants. That is why extortion is a common crime amongst Pirates. They sell the Polyps back to the coral reef they stole it from in exchange for currency.
