Divine Guard

Divine Guard is an elite military unit serving the Susannite Church. Divine Guards are bodyguards of the Divine Ruler.

Composition

Structure

Commander of the Divine Guard is the highest ranking officer of this formation, but the highest authority over the Guard is the hands of the Divine Ruler. However, the tradition dicates that the Ruler should refrain from interfering in the Guard's matters unless it is an emergency.

When operating outside of the Church's seat the Divine Guard may be assisted by the Church Militias, locally formed units protecting the holdings of Divine Dukes and priests. Any Guard officer has the right to draft the militias whenever they feel it is necessary. A guardsman always outranks a member of the militia.

Upkeep

The Guard is maintained by the Church from the contributions of the faithful and rulers. In times of crisis the Divine Ruler can ask the rulers for bigger contributions or even additional manpower for the guard.

Recruitment

Soldiers of the Divine Guard are recruited from among all people of Atamor. The only requirement is to be of the Susannite faith. Additionally, every country is obligated to provide 100 trained soldiers every 10 years and officers every 20 years.
