Commander of Divine Guard

Commander of the Divine Guard is the highest ranking officer in the Divine Guard and he manages the everyday affairs of the guard as well as command the guard in battle. Only the Divine Ruler is above the Commander, but tradition dicates that the ruler should refrain from interevening in the guard affairs unless it is in an emergency.

Requirements

To be the Commander one must be a soldier of the Divine Guard for at least 2 years and be promoted to officer and serve 1 year more. If someone starts the service as an officer, he can be chosen for Commander after 3 years of service. There aren't any limitations based on gender, age, cultural heritage or even species. However, there hasn't been an elven Commander yet.

Appointment

The Commander of Divine Guard is appointed personally by the Divine Ruler from the officers of the guard. Things like experience, devotation and heroic deeds in battles can help with being selected.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Commander of Divine Guard can be removed from office by the Divine Ruler. However, it can only happen if the Commander shows sign of incompetence, committed a crime or was disloyal towards the Divine Ruler. The Divine Ruler can dismiss the Commander as soon as he learns of the event that can be a ground for dismissal and no special procedure is needed. Additionally, officers of the guard can petition the Divine Ruler to assess the Commander. Then the Ruler must appoint a special inspector. If the assesment goes badly the Divine Ruler has the right to remove the Commander from office.
