Castle of Four Thrones
The Castle of Four Thrones serves as the seat and home of the Tetrarchs, their wives and children as well as the administrative centre of the Remunan Kingdom.
The four thrones stay firmly at the end of the throne room before the big window which gives a splendid view of the city below. It allows the Tetrarchs to admire their domain and reminds them of their duty to the people
History
The recorded history of the castle starts in the early years of the Age of Darkness as the seat of the imperial warden of the northern province. However, legends say that it was built earlier, in the Age of Susanne. It remained the seat of the warden to the fall of the Empire of Atamor at the end of the Age of Darkness.
The castle's location in the city of Remun, the legendary birthplace of the Remunan culture, made it the place desired by everybody who wanted to take control over the region. Luckily, the four great houses didn't turn to war to settle the dispute. Instead, they met in the castle and reached an agreement about the future of the region. In that moment the Remunan Tetrarchy was born the castle became the Castle of Four Thrones.
Architecture
The castle is built on the hill located in the centre of Remun, the kingdom's capital. It is a tall building made of white marble with 4 towers in the corner of the wall surrounding the main building. Although the towers were present during the Age of Darkness they are currently used to symbolize the four Tetrarchs.
Alterations
The main alterations made to the castle happened when the Empire of Atamor fell and the Remunan Kingdom was formed. The throne room was adapted for 4 rulers by placing three more thrones. The residential parts were remodeled to create seperate spaces for each Tetrarch and their family.
I really like how the castle has been repurposed from what it once was - the fact the four towers now symbolise the tetrarchs is a really nice touch.
