The world of Ankishar and Kalam is on the brink of plunging into chaos once again, as the cycle of ages continues forgotten magic and dark forces threaten to return and overthrow the natural order- the nobility remain entrenched in their mercantile way, the royal bloodline continue to clash in decades of family feuds and the new Church continues its campaign to extinguish the rituals and traditions of the past.   Like an unstoppable tide: the ghosts of the dead stir across the land, forests once ruled by the wolves and sabre toothed cats, now offer up foul foes, Skin-Theives, Doppleganers and Woodland Spirits, from the moors of the north Ghouls awake to feed on the fallen, and in the deserts wish granting Djinn laugh amid the sandstorms. Not so long ago, a witch or ghost was hardly seen, but in the space of a generation it seems every city now hosts fiends and every town preyed upon by dark forces in the night.   Who stands to face the coming darkness? The Champions of Uldoreanth seldom cross their nations borders since the wars of the recent past. The Witch-Hunters, once the prime combatants against those armed with the maleficent arts have be seconded into Churches Inquisition, and all teaching not endorsed by the Church are heresy. The Guild of Exorcists has crumpled in their greed, driven solely by the desire for donations and votive offerings their true craft all but swept away by the Church. Too few Errant Knights roam the lands with good intentions and will to aid the common people.
