A study into The Glorious Kingdom of Eglen

First of all there is the name “The Glorious Kingdom of Eglen” there is nothing glorious about it, it’s just another speck of land on this continent. They are far less developed than our country Duscurybanr, so why they would call themselves glorious is really beyond my understanding.

The people of Eglen, the Eglonion, are oppressed by the nobility and the mercenaries and the church in that country. The nobility still has absolute power, not like in our country where we got rid of them, and brought power to the people. In Eglen, the people cannot even choose their ruler, so backwards. They are forced to work a job they don’t want to and are most often not allowed to leave the area they are born in, paying insane taxes to the local nobles, and being pressed to work insane hours by the mercenaries.

If that’s not all, their church, which is just another branch of the nobles power, has a tight grip on the mind of the people, enforcing them to think certain ways about how to live their lives. Woman are not allowed to think in Eglen, they can’t go to school! They are kept as cattle, sold by their fathers, taxed obviously by the nobles and the church, to be used as breeding stock.

Also their treatment of the people who work their coal mines is awful 8 out of 10 dies before they are 40 years old! We in Duscurybanr do that much better, we import all our coal and oil from our colonies where the locals are treated much better.

The people of Eglen are very unhappy with their nation and how it is ruled, but everyone who dares to open their mouth about it disappears into their prisons, where they are tortured, or labour camps, to be never heard of again. But despite that risk, there is a strong underground good republican movement, which secretly the majority supports.

Eglen is also rich in good farmland, but due to the constant mismanagement of the nobles, the farmers can’t harvest an optimum yield. If they could, they could export it to Duscurybanr for a fair free market price, not set by corrupt guilds, so we could feed our growing population better.

Personally I feel that we the people of Duscurybanr should help the Eglonion into the future. A future under the flag of the Democratic Republic of Duscurybanr!

Those poor Eglen people are so oppress!!! we need to go save them!   I love the style you used to write this article <3 Sharing the propaganda of a country is always fun, and I really love that you gave the POV of a very sceptic outsider that is also trying to justify going to war XD

Thank you Amélie, it was a fun one to write too! I'll see if I can make some more POV things in this world.
