FeraCuret
A strange disease, unknown in origin, but it is highly feared in the settlements close to rainforests, as it seems to only occur there.
Transmission & Vectors
While the origin, and therefore the transmitters, is unknown, the disease only seems to occur near rainforests, so it is thought that a plant or animal releases something that causes the condition.
Causes
The cause seems to be a chemical that is injected into the infected, but nobody can remember being stung by anything, leaving two plausible reasons, one, the stinger is too small to feel, or the poison/venom makes them forget being stung.
Symptoms
The symptoms are the most terrifying part. If, say, a Barbro got infected, they would start to have rages, increasingly more often, using less words and more growls and roars. This goes on for weeks until they use words no more.
At this point, usually it is known what happened, they got infected. For those who don't know, the infected gets more and more wild and savage, until they eventually start to walk on all-fours.
Treatment
The only treatment known is, sadly, putting them out of their misery. Although some settlements have dumped them on small islands, they usually either swim back or die on the island. Even the Guardians do not know what the cure is, so it seems that until someone gets lucky and finds a cure, we must live in fear of the condition.
Prognosis
It seems that if they are let to continue to grow like this, they just continue to loose all sense of sentience, just growing more and more savage and wild. It is unknown as of yet whether it is lethal or not.
Affected Groups
It has only been reported in sentient beings, although reports of other animals catching it exist.
Prevention
The most common prevention is, simply, to not live near the rainforest. Other ways are not currently known.
Epidemiology
It seems to be a single-effected case of a disease, which is good, as the condition usually goes unnoticed for a long time.
History
The only history of it is that Majhy Orcolin contracted it, and was left to die on an island.
Cultural Reception
It is always feared, except when young ones do not know what it does, as they go around playing that they have it, causing panic in some cases.
