These are years of scientific progress and exploration for the Land of the Dream. Some nations crumble under sprawling empires while others unite to face the increasingly faster modernization. Amongst the former, the United Kingdom of Illyria, Slagoria and Liattùva has become the dominant superpower, holding colonies, trade outposts and dominions all across the world.   Numerous Illyrian expeditions have been sent forth into the oceans, the jungles, the deserts and the icy southern lands, some in the name of science, others of religion and others still just in the name of adventure itself.   The Illyrian hegemony, though, is now facing an incredible event, a rebellion in the region of Pasavla, in the New World, known by its colonists as Rutherfordia: this newborn Republic has managed to survive its independence war for a whole year, an unprecedented feat, partly due to its geographical position and partly due to the world-known resolve of halflings.   All the while, magic seems to be slowly becoming a symbol of eclipsing elites or a simple tool in the clutches of technology.   Will Illyria crush the rebellion? Will the other powers remain silent spectators? Or are the diplomatic cogs already moving? Have they already decided the fate of years to come?
