18 Dhu'l-Qi'dah 1348 (20 April 1930)

Created by

As far as the world is concerned, today is 22 Nisan 5690, the final day of Passover. Today is 20 April 1930, Easter Sunday. Today is 22 Dhu'l-Qi'dah 1348, a day for Muslims to ignore the ulama, bring dessert to someone else's holiday, and get drunk. (But not too drunk. Tomorrow is a work day.)   Nobody will spend tonight wondering if Andalusada's story actually started 850 years ago. But what about the year 1081? What words exchanged in that past could have led to this present day? How different could things have possibly been?   Nobody will spend tonight wondering if Andalusada's story is actually a work of fiction composed 85 years in the future. But what about the year 2015? What words exchanged in this present day will lead to that future? How different could things possibly become?   In less than twenty years, the mother of all wars will end with an empire destroyed and a new world order born from its ashes. In less than twenty months, the most modern and advanced Muslim country in the world will grant all its subjects the right to vote. In less than twenty weeks, the world will be forced to prepare for the mother of all wars — set in motion by an exchange of words.   In less than 20 hours, it will be a work day, and your actions will decide just how different a world can possibly be.
