Weaving the Elements

The magical art of Weaving the Elements is present in some form or another in all the worlds of Niamaru. It can be best described as a process of directly manipulating the fundamental particles of Creation—the Elements—by a self-conscious being in order to invoke a certain metaphysical effect on the world around it. In other words, this is what most people refer to as Magic and more specifically—Arcane Magic. Not all beings are able to sense or manipulate the Elements, but those who can do that are referred to as Weavers or in some cultures—Mages. If the creature lacks self-awareness or sufficient intelligence to qualify as an Amon, then it is more correct to call it a Magical creature.

The effects of a Weaving can be as subtle or as dramatic as the Weaver intends it to be. However, its power and outreach highly depend on the Weaver's aptitude and experience. No matter how adept the Weaver is, though, the effects cannot break the fundamental laws of the world he is in.

Manifestation

The Weaving can manifest in different ways in the different worlds, but it is usually represented by some form of structured complex patterns—Weaves. That's where the art's name comes from. The individual Elements of Creation construct the Weaves and for beings with the proper aptitude, these Weaves become visible as long as they remain active.

In Anarand'aris the specific shape and form of each Weave depends on the effect they should produce, but they are always composed of infinitely thin and long ethereal threads. Generally, the more complex the effect, the more intricate and large the Weave is. In most cases, the desired outcome is based on a stack of effects, which requires some very complicated Weaving. The resulting Тapestry of Weaves, especially if performed by a skilled Weaver, is something extraordinary and exquisite to look upon.
