The Sacracy
An ancient empire that for six galactic ages, since the first age, existed in secrecy hidden within other societies before emerging from the shadows upon the fall of the Hakka Empire, which heralded the event galactic era when the magickal powers of the galaxy began operating openly.
The citizenry of the Sacracy is composed of a magickal species called Abidaian, derived from the Erosian supernatural species. Becoming an Abidaian is achieved through the consumption of the blood of a current member of a sub-species. Each of these sub-species is part of what is known as a Great House, which is ruled by its Progenitor, the first or presumed first known member of the Abidaian sub-species.
The Progenitors are known collectively as the Progenitory, and they are the ruling body that directs the administration of the Sacracy. The hierarchy of the great houses, aside from the Progenitory, is in a constant state of flux as its members vie for supremacy over each other and the accomplishment of self-serving motivations.
All members of the Sacracy, the Abidian, and their servants are known collectively as Sacracians.
Great Houses:
There are seven Great Houses of the Sacracy that control a sphere of power, influence, and function within the empire as a whole. Each of the Great Houses is controlled by its Progenitor. The Progenitor delegates authority to lesser members of the Great House, allowing them the authority to officially form a minor house beneath them to rule directly over a section of the Great House members and their territory.House Shinla:
The Great House of the "Progenitor" Shinla, the original species. Shinla is secretly the second member of the species named for him. Shinla, along with the true Progenitors of the sub-species betrayed the true Progenitor in order to secure immortality for them all. Outside of the true Progenitor of House Shinla, the Progenitory are the only individuals aware of this fact. Members of House Shinla are known as Purebloods for being the original species, or Blue Bloods for their unique luminescent blue blood. The members of the Shinla do not possess any of the unique abilities attained by the other Great Houses but tend to outmatch the other generic abilities of the other Great Houses. They possess enhanced strength, endurance, agility, dexterity, intellect, senses, and accelerated healing. They possess powers of telepathy. These powers of telepathy include the capacity to telepathically communicate with, locate, and dominate anyone they have personally turned into members of their species.House Heracli:
The Great House of the Progenitor Heracli worked to alter the powers of the blood he consumed to focus on enhanced physical attributes. They possess vastly enhanced strength, endurance, agility, dexterity, senses, and accelerated healing compared to the members of the other Great Houses. They do not possess any telepathic abilities and only possess the psychokinetic ability of flight. Being turned into a member of the Heracli alters the personality of the individual by causing an increase in activity of the Hypothalamus and Amygdala regions of the brain, causing them to become aggressive and adrenaline junkies. House Heracli are blood rivals of House Nyx.House Nyx:
The Great House of the Progenitor Nyx worked to alter the powers of the blood he consumed to unlock the powers of his Aura to expand his powers in regards to divination and telepathy. Members of Nyx possess a range of telepathic and psychokinetic abilities. These include the capacity to read and dominate any lesser and unprotected minds of others, telekinesis, healing, and atomic manipulation. Along with this, they possess the capability to view the past, distant present, and future in its many possibilities and probabilities. The members of Nyx possess the most potent and volatile blood of any of their peers, leaving them prone to becoming more powerful than their age and experience can withstand. As their powers increase beyond their ability to control they will begin to lose themselves in the pasts, present, and futures that they become controlled by and are seen as a threat to more than the Sacracy, but the galaxy itself. Due to these factors, the members of Nyx practice bloodletting regularly to maintain their grip on reality and individuality. They are widely feared for their power and the idea that one could become strong enough to become omnipotent. Members of House Nyx tend to be paranoid and prone to hedonism due to the increase of activity within the Amygdala of the brain. House Nyx are blood rivals of House Heracli.House Nigh:
The Great House of the Progenitor Nigh worked to alter their blood to unlock the powers of their Aura at the expense of abilities typically available to Abidians, granting them the ability to permanently imprint the shadow of their spirit on the corporeal. Members of Nigh are capable of altering the natural fabric of reality through the consumption of the Ichor of magickal energies within their blood, allowing them to craft and enchant magickal relics. They possess the standard enhanced intellect and lower than standard levels of enhanced senses and healing. They do not possess telepathic abilities nor do they have enhanced physical attributes beyond their healing. Members of Nigh tend to consume the most Blood Chits, forms of currency used by the Sacracy consisting of magickally preserved and concentrated blood into coins.House Hela:
The Great House of the Progenitor Hela worked to alter their blood to unlock the powers of their aura to expand on all of their abilities as well as add to them, resulting in the malformation of their bodies during their transformation. Members of Hela have enhanced intellect, memory, strength, endurance, agility, dexterity, and healing. They are capable of altering their own bodies to change the size, shape, texture, odor, and mass at the expense of the Ichor of their blood, they are also capable of making themselves invisible by refracting light from their opposing sides. They are capable of projecting illusions that affect the perceptions of lesser beings. The members of Hela are almost as feared as the members of House Camazotz, due to the fact that their powers have deformed their bodies significantly. Due to the members of Hela having extensive powers in matters of stealth and being highly intelligent, they are regarded as elite spies and assassins. The members of Hela act as the middlemen in the plots between the other Great Houses, rarely falling prey to such plots themselves.House Camazotz:
The Great House of the Progenitor Camazotz worked to alter their blood to unlock their powers of Hemokinesis, the powers of blood magick to manipulate the flesh of themselves, as well as the flesh and spirits of other unprotected beings. Camazotz extensively and purposefully altered his bodies and the flesh and spirits of those he turns, as well as those that serve him. Members of Camazotz emulate their progenitor, willingly or otherwise, as the practice of extensively manipulating the flesh and spirit of those they turn. Very few have ever refrained from not carrying on the work of their sire after their turning.House Tlazolteotl:
The Great House of the Progenitor Tlazolteotl worked to alter their blood to unlock the powers of their aura and are said to be the most beautiful, seductive, and mysterious of the Abidians. The blood of Tlazolteotl, and her descendants, transforms the bodies of those that it turns into an aesthetically perfect version of themselves. Their blood is also capable of transfiguring their thralls for as long as they are enthralled. Tlazolteotl and her house are blood rivals to Hela and her house, with Tlazolteotl being popular assassins and spies less for their ability to go unnoticed, but for their ability to acquire the compliance of those under their influence.Minor Houses:
The minor houses of the Sacracy are run by individuals who have proven themselves worthy of running a lesser house of their own and are known by the title of Prince/Princess. They have the authority to make members of their Great House without requiring approval or oversight and rule over their kindred in their territories. In order to receive the title of Prince/Princess and control of a minor house, the individual is required to obtain, or if a member of House Nigh to craft, an Oraculus and a Signatus. The Oraculus is an ornate mid-sized fetish idol and the Signatus is a signet ring crafted by the Progenitor Nigh, which must be confirmed to have been crafted lawfully by the Progenitor Nyx. The minor houses hold to internal politics in that most of its members are dedicated to attempting to maneuver themselves so that they can claim the title of Prince/Princess over the house. While a Prince/Princess possesses the authority to command those within the territory of their house, only members of their house are beholden to them and others are free to recuse themselves from duties to the Prince/Princess but may be required to leave their territory.Religion:
The Progenitory is revered as the pantheon of the Abidaian people and the Sacracy. By other members of their Great House, a Progenitor is viewed as the pinnacle of what they are capable of achieving, they are emulated by their kindred. By members and guests of minor houses, their Oraculus is viewed as a sacred shrine due to its connection to their Progenitor. Princes/Princesses are considered to be their servants, tasked with carrying out their will and upholding the Invokatous. Secrecy is sacred in the Sacracy, with the ability to successfully keep secrets being a righteous achievement, and claiming access to the secrets of others an expression of the divine powers. As such, attempting to protect and steal or access secrets is a constant struggle that builds and destroys successive rivalries and alliances. Alliances and rivalries that are maintained for more than a millennium are considered sacred, eternal, lasting long enough to impact an individual for the remainder of their potential immortality, and passed on to descendants.Invokatous:
The five commandments of the Shadow Council, are the sacred laws that they mandate all Abidaian are bound to follow. They are listed in order of importance, with the lesser laws being breakable in the pursuit of maintaining a higher law. Those that violate the Invokatous are known as Peccator or a sinner.I:
Thou shalt not betray the Sacracy.II:
Thou shalt not betray thy Progenitor.III:
Thou shalt not betray thy House.IV:
Thou shalt not permit a Peccator to live.V:
Thou shalt not kill an Abidian.Subjects:
The Erosian mortals which make up the bulk of the source of ichor for the Sacracians are known and seen by the Sacracy as their subjects, these were originally the nations that they existed secretly within, where they would hunt for and prey upon the vulnerable and unsuspecting. In present-day are largely the slums where the mortals live mostly as impoverished serfs permitted to work plots of land in return for regular bloodlettings. Though, billions still live on worlds where they live technologically advanced and independent lives, kept unaware of the nature of their existence as livestock, to sate the desires of Sacracians who enjoy the hunt and the kill of the unsuspecting.
