The Quill of Aesis

Appearance

The Quill of Aesis is a silver tipped quill, crafted from a single pure white feather, taken from an ancient pegasus. The tip is fashioned from a bright, silvery metal. When picked up, the quill resizes itself to the perfect size for whomever grasps it, allowing it to be comfortably used by anyone. The writing left by the quill shimmers subtly with silver pinpricks in the otherwise deep black strokes, though this shimmer is only visible to anyone who has the capability for magic.

History

The Quill of Aesis is relatively well known amongst scholars of The Mystic, though its location is unknown. Legends tell of it being crafted for the first wizard Aesis taught to access the Resonance, a gift to his earliest disciple. A few scholars claim the name is nothing more than aggrandisement, and the quill was crafted by a mortal, albeit a prodigiously powerful wizard. From there, the details become even less clear, with various individuals through the ages claiming to have borne the quill. Few can be proven beyond doubt, and the most recent confirmed sighting of the quill was in the possession of Calidia Priscian, one of the wizards who later disappeared in 553, having travelled to The Shattered Isle.

Powers

The Quill of Aesis never requires ink, always able to write in perfect clarity no matter the surface. To those sharp minded enough to catch Aesis' attention, the quill grants a piece of the Loremaster's knowledge, unlocking the ability to read and write in any language, provided they at least know of the language's existence. Though, aware of it or not, the quill grants its bearer the understanding of celestial, the language of the heavens. Some scholars tell of the quill being a powerful arcane focus capable of storing and channelling Aesis' Resonance, though these claims are debated by many.
