The Emperor's Hall
"Do you see this Marco? Nothing has been built like it and nothing speaks to the frugality of our empire. We cannot build a new hall for our emperor, no monuments to his greatness. Instead, we have to repurpose an old building for him. He's taken over an ancient temple and not a gorgeous one, but, Marcus, look at this view." - Ton the Brazen, looking out over lower CaerodaleThe main hall of the Emperor is not something built during his lifetime. Instead, he repurposed an old cult building. It had been erected by a powerful cult who served Bodom the evil God of the earth. The Empire claimed it after establishing Caerodale as his capital and eradicating those who worshiped Bodom. They then moved to declair worship of Bodom dangerous to the empire. This is, to date, the only illegal religion. This reason alone drives The Children of Bodom to plot against him.
Purpose / Function
Originally the building had been conceived by the High Priest of Bodom , High Priest Tae'hr Fox nearly 100 years before the Empire came into being when worship of Bodom was at its highest. The building was a masterful creation beautiful and elegant built in Upper Caerodale. The paintings and architecture spoke of the earth rising up and destroying its enemies.
The building had been designed as a place where sacrifices to Bodom could be performed, a large bottomless hole still allegedly exists in the throne room and a place where all those who served Bodom could be interred into the dust. Miles and miles of catacombs are alleged to exist below the once powerful cathedral.
History
When the Empire rose the first thing Emperor Endyd I looked for was an appropriate place to set up his rule. He returned from war and seeing the oppression that the Children of Bodom were enforcing on the city hedestroyed what remained of their enclave throwing many of them into the great abyss and having it stopped up. Within a mater of months he'd had the paintings and murals to Bodom replaced with those of his own conquests and nearly every reference to Bodom removed, except for the stonework directly behind the thrown, a man rising from the ground shredding the wings off a dragon. With this piece he had Bodom's face altered to look like his own.
