Lord Governor General Sir Chelsey Astor

Lord Governor General Sir Chelsey Astor is the current and longest-serving Governor General of the British Colony of Singapore. Excluding a 13-day period during 1942 when he was indisposed due to a serious bout of yellow fever, Governor General Astor has served in his position as the 13th Governor General of the Singapore Colony in the Orient since 1883.
During his time as Governor General, Astor oversaw the expansion of the city from a relatively small city dedicated to regional trade control into one of the crowning jewels of the crown of the British Empire. His Governorship over the city saw the creation of public works facilities, sewer systems, telegraph and telephone lines, the introduction of television and other technologies, and the construction of over a dozen trolley lines and hospitals.
He has faced controversy by the leadership back home in London for his "antiquated and old-fashioned style of governance." He continues to rule over the city's cultural and social structure through the Ministry of Fashion and Facade, which is responsible for producing new designs (largely in the 17th and 18th century style) for the people of Singapore. Despite the amount of dislike many have for him in London, his long-lasting tenure and proven track record of success has made it incredibly hard to remove him from his position.
