The struggle for Inad

"If we fall the world as we know it will collapse soon after, we must stand as a final hope"
  • Weicras of Fereldas
  • The struggle of Inad was a war started by Aranos the Fallen and his unyielding army. This war is not commonly known as a war instead it is called a struggle because the war was by no means waged in a conventional way. There was not a single soul that remained untouched by this event. The pure hands of children were used to carry provisions, the gaze of a cripple used to spot enemies none were to go to waste. This war lasted for 7 years and the horrors were unimagineable. Aranos wanted to weed out the weak, because only people with strong souls can survive the 3 trials he put the world through. He sent his first General upon Inad. This general was famine, through necrotic magic he corrupted the very earth so that it would not bear fruit and grains. Suddenly the green faded from trees and the earth became dry and infertile. After this Aranos sent his second general pestilence, the second general released plagues upon the already famished. Aranos then sent his third general, Entropy. The previous generals had tested the hearts and bodies of their victims but the third tested their minds. Entropy unleashed insanity and paranoia upon the lands. They called it the Blight as the ones who could not endure turned into mindless and mad killers. During this time affected people would roam the streets in packs, some would cry endlessly some would mutilate themselves, others attack mindlessely. It was truly a time of darkness. But once the trials ended Aranos unleashed the final test. Himself.   The world was ripe for the final test, the strong and pure of heart would unite under one banner. The final test was war, Aranos brought his unyielding, unflinching army to Inad. His army came from the west in the year 448. His invasion was swift as the continent was already severely weakened. The survivors of fereldas had no choice but to unite under one banner and one war council. That of the banner of Honor. Thousands of strong willed people joined the Knights of Honor and fought, thousands fell. Southern Fereldas was first to fall, Thy'ken was proving difficult and as such Aranos personally led the invasion. 3 years into the war, Thy'ken fell and control was seized by Aranos. Yet another year and Aranos managed to conquer South and East Fereldas. It seemed that his advance was unstoppable until Weicras of Fereldas began leading the War effort. Aranos advance was significantly halted and people were invigorated, until Aranos and his three generals put all their efforts into conquering North Fereldas (Cyrril). For 2 years the brave North endured but eventually the soldiers were exhausted beyond human limits. The war was lost when the final bastion Gothriande fell.    It was then that the lords held a council and decided that Aranos had become a threat to the very order that the Lords of Inad were charged with protecting. The lord of Honor would intervene and subdue Aranos army, Planetars and Solars were sent to Inad to carry out the orders of The Lord of Honor. Aranos could never stand against this power and in his arrogance he sent the bulk of his army to war against the Lord. The battle took place by the mountain of Edur and there his army was anihilated. Aranos was always calm and showed restraint but on that day he fought like an unchained predator. But one after one his generals were captured, and only he remained. He made a last stand on top of Edar, he wrestled Planetars into submission, dodged the arrows of Solars and broke the wings of Devas. After 29 days of fighting Aranos was finally defeated by Temur leader of the army of Lord Honor. Temur wished for him to be executed but the Lords decided that he was fit for another fate. They told him that by not surrendering he had chosen the path of perpetual torment and as he wanted to play king of the world he would be chained on a throne made of swords and forced to wear a crown that contained the screams of all suffering he had caused. But Aranos was no fool, he knew that he might one day be captured so he split his generals souls into three items, a crown, a scepter and a orb. Once all of the artifacts had been reunited the Generals would summon their commander and Aranos should walk the soils of Inad again.    For 280 years he has been tortured daily, all his soldiers condemned and his generals tormented. But during this time he has had lifetimes to contemplate his errors, to go through every mistake, to perfect every plan. This time he shall not fail, the world will burn and from the ashes something greater will rise. The strongest of storms creates the most beautiful flowers. The more violent the wind, the stronger the tree. The hotter the flame the stronger the blade. This time he will not fail the world.
