Looking for Besim at the Obelisk Report
General Summary
In the Pylon Room where Kiss & Aka stayed the night was an obelisk. Kiss used comprehend language to read the writing. It said:
"Across the sands you have come
Life did flow but now is done
Seek his heart to break his power
Efreeti’s wrath to rise and glower"
After the night of being attacked by sea hags in Misha & McKenna's room, the team gets word during breakfast from the Silent Cup tavern keeper Ardito that your caravan leader Yogad is staying in the camp for another day. He'll either want to leave at sunset or in the morning. Either way, you have the day to take care of business in the Research Camp. Leaving the Cup, Misha, McKenna, Braylon and Aka go to contact Lead Researcher Daniel Kazim to find out what he knows about Besim. Kazim says that Besim did come to his research facility and was very interested and knowledgeable about First Empire history. The team had recently uncovered an obelisk in the desert about 2 hours travel from the camp. A week ago, when Besim arrived at the obelisk site, some form of evil spirits or ghost emerged from the sands and begin attacking all the researchers. Kazim was embarrassed to admit that he and the others ran in fear. Besim and another researcher, Shabrez did not make it back to camp. Kazim has been too fearful to return to the site, he did find Besim's backpack and inside was a chunk of stone that appears to be a missing part of the obelisk. That section of stone read: (-- cracks / edges --) —— bound into the sun

The group heads out for the obelisk excavation site 2 hours from the camp. Upon arriving at the obelisk site, 3 ghost emerge from the sand. Each one taking on a unique shape and character of their former lives. One wielded a glaive, one a whip and one flung ghostly clawed hands towards members of the party. They spoke some unknown language, but as the battle went on they uttered one or two words in common. Calling Dehaka "lizard", Kiss "hell child", McKenna "dragon" Two of the ghost were slain or their semi-physical form dispersed. The last one managed to possess Dehaka and now the team is attempting to knock him out to stop his rampage as he attempts to deface the obelisk saying "You will not discover the secrets!"
