Chapter 3: Dukes, Demons, and Dungeons Oh My!

It was during this celebration that the party partook in a tournament and was beat by the local champions. Also during this time a fey showed up and took Alpine back to the Feywild only for Nareth to return to the group. Later in the festival, the party noticed the duke partaking and that he was exceptionally strong and fought similarly to the man who had attacked them on the road. Accepting a challenge to fight him the party prepared for battle. Immediately after the bell signaling the start of the bout Roy commanded Duke Yinlana to surrender but this had the unintended effect of allowing something within him to take command. This new force was even more powerful and during the short fight summoned demons while constantly battling the duke for control. During one of his brief moments of control, he told the party to help him but also to run before he could be restrained by the party and nearby clerics who temporarily freed him from his capture. At this point, Roy and his father decided to return home.   After a little investigation, it was discovered that someone had bound a demon to a necklace that he had been given by his wife and this demon was periodically possessing him. Members of the court including Lord Devlman worked quickly to move the item to a pocket dimension where it was not able to harm the duke. Worried about that this might do in terms of a long term impact the party was asked to look for a rumored stronghold in the mountains that might have knowledge on how to combat the demon. Seeing this as being of low importance Nareth and an Aarcokra names Kass traveled to Niflheim alone to search for a magic item he had heard of. Unfortunately, they were unprepared for the creatures inhabiting the location and Kass was killed leaving Nareth alone who ran off into the woods.   This left Ruger and Muzu alone to save the duke, or so they thought. A few days later guards came looking for Ruger and Muzu claiming that one of their prisoners asked to speak with them, knowing their names and descriptions despite having never met the pair. Arriving at the jail they met a druid named Ozin who had been summoned for the same reason. Heading inside they discovered that the prisoner was a Koa-Toa named Stanley who said that the four of them were destined to travel together, his god had said so. Reluctantly the party took him with them and went to do search the mountains, but not before retrieving a little girl's doll.   As they traveled into the mountains they met a kobold named Garron, or Gary as they called him. They also met with a man named Kosh Dalavash who joined the growing group. Finding the stronghold the party made their way inside and almost immediately found a sealed door with a strangely shaped indent. This it turned out was opened by the necklace Muzu wore and had belonged to his parents. Behind the door was a teleportation circle which the party choose to use rather than get what they had come for.
