Cohnal is a middle-aged high-elf and the headmaster of the Arcane University of Dollet. Wise beyond his years, he has a no-nonsense attitude about almost everything in his life, his beliefs being that order, responsibility, and discipline are what is necessary for a "proper" world. He despises anyone that leeches off of society without contributing to it and fully expects such behavior out of most non-elves unless they are practitioners of magic or extremely skilled in their chosen craft.
As headmaster of one of the most prestigious known magic academies, Cohnal trains willing students day and night. His reputation largely dictates how others react when he enters a room. Most students give him a wide berth, some grovel before him, and a select few show immense respect, especially if they have trained under him specifically, for they know he can be harsh on students to the point they drop out of the academy altogether.

Cohnal is ambidextrous, a skill he taught himself when writing and casting spells. His posture is incredibly perfect, his back always straight when possible.

Cohnal wears heavy blue robes with gold and silver material woven in along the collar, chest, and sleeves. It has an attached hood, though he always keeps it down. On his head, he wears elvish earings, a circlet, and necklaces.

Education

Having been born in the northern half of the kingdom of Vantice, Cohnal was no stranger to the many uses of magic throughout its varied lands. During his first century of life, he learned of the ways in which clerics and druids use their magical powers, but was in awe of the absolute power of the sorcerer's destruction that he witnessed in the kingdom's many civil conflicts. Coming to both admire them for their power and despise them for such power being manifested without training, he decided to pursue arcane knowledge through the discipline of regimented studies. This pursuit led Cohnal beyond the borders of his birth kingdom and across many lands where he trained under various arcane specialists. After learning the nuances, strengths, and weaknesses of each school of magic over two-hundred-odd years, Cohnal brought his teachings to the Arcane University of Dollet during a time when the city was still under Vantician rule.

Employment

In a few short decades after joining the University as an instructor, he rose to the rank of the headmaster, despite the challenges of being a full-blooded elf. His teachings and reputation propelled the University's prestige across oceans, and for years various pupils have arrived to learn all they can of the arcane ways.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Before Cohnal became headmaster of the university, he put his arcane powers to use against his birth kingdom in the small war that freed Dollet from Vantician rule. Dubbed a War Wizard by some of his peers, Cohnal had a statue constructed of him, against his wishes, and planted in the central courtyard of the university.

Intellectual Characteristics

Cohnal is proficient in Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, and Sylvan, and prefers to create his magical incantations out of a mix of Elvish and Sylvan, viewing the two languages as superior to others. Though he is aware of many others, he considers learning about them to be a waste of time and beneath him (particularly the language of goblins and orcs).

Morality & Philosophy

No stranger to the nature of the world, Cohnal has a great sense of what is deemed to be "good" and "evil", and largely ignores the leanings of both, preferring to understand the deeper reasoning of creatures and their actions.

Cohnal is strictly atheist. Although he is aware of evidence of old temples worshipping gods, and that other spellcasters claim their powers come from a god or other plane of existence, Cohnal finds this hard to believe, instead preferring to believe that those casters are simply too weak-minded to understand the greater nuances of arcane power.
