Triune

The Triune is a council of advisors that serves the Autarch of Achillonia. The Triune always has three members -- the three Triarchs -- and they function as a government under an autocratic ruler. They advise and aid the Autarch as she rules over the twelve Amazon Temples but can also serve as ambassadors, executors or judicators should the Autarch deem it fit.
Together, the Autarch and her three Triarchs are sometimes referred to as the Four Matriarchs.

Appointment

Triarchs are appointed by the Autarch. Selection occurs largely by the meritocratic standards of Achillonian society.
When a new Autarch takes power, the Triune that served the previous Autarch is automatically disbanded and a new Triune is named. Like the Autarch, Triarchs must always be female. Unlike the Autarch, the Triarchs cannot be challenged for their station by Atricians -- appointment of Triarchs is always done by the Autarch, but trials and competitions are often organized to help her decision making.
The position of Triarch is exclusive and cannot be held by a Primarch.

Duties

Triarchs dedicate their very lives to the service of the Autarch. They go where she goes, they do what she demands, and they fight the battles she chooses -- and even those she doesn't. Besides being the ruler's closest advisors and her most powerful political tools, the Triarchs are also her most important bodyguards. In this they are assisted by the Myrmidons, and one of the three Triarchs is often given direct command of that ancient order of warriors.
