The Dapper Hare Inn

The safest food and boarding in town!
Welcome to the Dapper Hare Inn, the home of the famous Sea-Bass curry of Pontismeadow!   That's right, folks. The Dapper Hare is where the curry was first served, crafted lovingly by the hands of our talented chef. The other taverns in town can only offer a poor imitation.   But that is not all we offer! Have a little Faith and try some of our other delectable dishes. I have no doubt that they will blow your socks off!   But that is fine if they do, our in-house laundrette will take care of those travel-weary clothes* - discretely, with no questions asked (so don't worry about the blood).   Our tavern has a cosy bar space, warmed and lit by a grand central hearth. There are plenty of seats around the fire, but if the shadows are more your style, you'll find plenty of places to perch out of the firelight. Tables line our walls and can be reserved on request**.   Our menus are exotic and well-priced, and portions are plenty. Our food is all freshly brought in from the market and the ale traded from all round the Empire. Prepare for nostalgic whiplash for we've likely got your hometown brew. Our aim is to make you feel right at home!   So at home, we proudly offer 1 night to 6 moons of boarding! All boarding packages offer a breakfast, but dinner must be specifically requested. This will cost extra, but you will no doubt find that it is worth every penny!
We welcome players of music during the day, and offer comedy nights every fortnight.

There is to be no violence under my roof.

Any acts of violence will be dealt with swiftly and without mercy. Please, do not test me.
This is a safe place for any who enter, regardless of where you are from or who you fight for. All quarrels are left at the porch. However, I do actively encourage gossiping and heated debate.
*All laundry services are included in our 'Traveller' packages. The laundrette service is not available to local punters.
** If you do not attend within three hands of the sun, your reservation will be void. I must be told at least six hands prior to your arrival.

Purpose / Function

This tavern is located in the coastal town of Pontismeadow. Therefore, it serves as a resting spot for travellers passing from the Islands to Austerra or up the southern Mesorange. It is a good place for meeting, greeting and listening out for news from around the Empire.   This building serves ale from around the Empire and fresh food. The seabass curry is Empire-famous. This tavern also provides travellers with a safe place to rest and recuperate, to meet with ally's and enemies alike. Lively conversation is actively encouraged although there is a rule of 'no violence', which is strictly upheld.   There are two ways to stay at the Dapper Hare. There are short stays, from 1 night to a week and then there are the long stays, which are a week through to six months. Both of these come with a breakfast and dinner package, although the latter does cost more. There is also an in-house laundrette.    This tavern is popular with the locals - not because they use it, but because the travellers do. This means other taverns thrive on local consumers, without the aggravations of dealing with travellers. Only one other tavern in Pontismeadow is open to travellers and it lacks a 'no violence' rule, so is a precarious night sleep at best.

Architecture

The tavern can be identified by its large yellow door and obnoxious swinging sign. The outside is decorated with flower beds, which are usually humming with bees.   The structure is predominantly made from stone, like the rest of the town. However, it has a large annex made of a mixture of wood and stone. This area serves as the long-stay boarding accommodation and has a kitchenette off to the side, as well as a separate bathroom. The annex was a later addition that was erected when it became clear that long-stay boarding was popular. Even today, the Tavern owner considers expanding this area.    There are few windows, although several windows on the roof allow in plenty of sunlight. The central hearth provides enough light in the evening, as well as warmth, and the smoke exits without issue through the roof-windows. The inside furnishings are made of oak and the walls decorated with richly painted tapestries created by local artists. The place is generally clean.   The laundrette is kept in the basement and serves secondarily as under-floor heating. This extends to the second and third stories of the tavern through a complex system of pipes and a member of staff, who must pump the water through the building from the basement. A second room off the basement is storage. It is kept well-insulted from the heat and steam of the laundry room and is only accessible from the tavern garden, whereas the laundrette can be accessed from inside the bar.    The bar is clean and richly decorated with ornaments from around the Empire. The wall is littered with artwork such as portraits of the Tavern owner and favourite patrons and beautifully depicted landscapes. The kitchen is not accessible to the public, but is clean and well-organised. It is spacious, with plenty of worktop space. There are several ovens and stove-tops, and a wall covered in pots and pans. A hole in the ground, covered by an insulated wooden trapdoor, is used for immediate storage.   The Tavern owner and security team reside in the building. Their rooms are similar size and decorated with the bare minimum - personal items, a wardrobe, mirror and weapon box.
