Alyria is a setting of high fantasy and high magic. It is a continent split in half by the inner sea and the Wandering Isle, home of the gods. The landscape is dotted with ruins of a previous civilization and ruins of an unknown nature made with peculiar black stone. The continent is dominated by four major powers and the remnants of a fallen empire.   Magic is a bit strange in Alyria, there are two kinds. Old Magic is that practiced by Warlocks and Sorcerers, magic that has existed since the birth of the world. Wizards practice a relatively new style of magic, wizardry itself has only been around a few hundred years. This new magic is very personal to its caster, with personal sigils and flairs added to spellbooks. Where a fire bolt cast by a sorcerer would look like a standard bolt of orange flame, a wizard's firebolt might be green or purple, or take the shape of a draconic head roaring towards its intended target.   In addition, magic is a wild force and difficult to bind to everyday objects. Most materials will only hold an enchantment for a few days at best. Only special metals and woods can have magic permanently weaved into their structure. Metals like Bronze, Silver, Gold, and the mysterious and rare Voidsteel are capable of holding a permanent enchantment.   Dragons are exceedingly rare on Alyria. They tend to keep to themselves, and leave no survivors when they do interact with mortals. The original ten Ancient Dragons are seen from time to time, and the Ancient Blue Dragon Dalothanar is known to roost on the island in the Bay of Ixora
