Organization: The Order of Silver

Mortals are inclined toward civilization, and civilization requires order and protection. The Order of Silver is chiefly composed of warriors dedicated to that cause, though magic users and others are welcome. Despite clashes between kingdoms and lords, the Order steadfastly refuses to take part in formal wars between sovereign nations, though they will defend rulers from uprisings so long as the former maintains at least a veneer of worthiness. Bodyguards have very focused roles, but most members spend their time in borderlands, fighting 'savage' races and conspicuously evil threats such as fiends and undead. The Order's hierarchy is rather rigid (for obvious reasons), though advancement largely depends on the subordinate organization to which one belongs.
The Invisible Hand serves as discreet bodyguards and secret police, as nearly all are trained as monks in the Silent Monastery. Many times a prince or princess won't even be aware of whom among the staff is their bodyguard, which prevents them from being compromised and also encourages young nobility to treat others with respect.
The Silver Legions are the largest and most visible members, serving in military organizations and meeting threats directly. Though they have the numbers to field three full legions, practicality and the realities of their donated income see the Legions split up into cohorts and sent where they're needed.
The Pearl Sigil is the magical branch of the Order, maintaining temples as well as an abjuration school for aspiring wizards. Few other spellcasters are permitted; druids are almost all Shepherds, warlocks Celestial, and sorcerers Favored Souls. Bards are usually of a Lore bent, and may study alongside the wizards if they so choose.
