Lauverchane Coast

Generally considered (at least by travel agencies) as the jewel of the Core worlds, the Lauverchane Coast is a 5km strip of coast situated on the ring around Proxima Centauri Proxima Centauri, Plantain Strip, Plate 7A. Facing onto the calm waters of the Asinine Sea, and fringed by semi-tropical rainforest, the coast is a series of soaring cliffs broken up by pure white sand beaches, the kind that squeaks as you walk across it barefoot. Of singular beauty are the cliffs themselves, formed as streaky slabs of white and grey silicates, they were artificially worn by the eccentric AI, Shodon, into shining edifices of wonder. Geometric shapes rubbed shoulders with soaring plateaus, curved wave forms, and spiralling staircases to nowhere.   The surrounding forest is an extension of the one that cascades from the fringes of nearby Lauv City on its elevated position one hundred and fifty metres above sea level. Down the vast slope, like a mottled blanket of green, the virtually unbroken expanse of trees is home to a diverse, and significant, chunk of the ring's biodiversity. Plants and animals, sourced from across the galaxy and carefully matched to avoid population endangering conflict, are carefully cultivated and monitored by pseudo AIs. Some have not been seen on their native soil for centuries, yet here they flourish in artificial security.   To walk amongst the trees, run your hands through the palms, watch the crysalys unfold in the morning, listen to the buzzing, chirping and screaming of countless lives, and then to emerge from the foliage onto squeaky sand and stand beneath one of the many dazzling cliffside monoliths is counted amongst the greatest experiences the universe has to offer. Except all the others. It really depends how you rank them.

Geography

Rolling hills that lead down to a vast plain and then to the coast line. The sand of the beaches is almost pure white and so fine it squeaks beneath the feet. Along the coastline, beaches are broken up by sections of cliff worn smooth and shaped in various ways by an AI. The polished surfaces were sculpted into a myriad of forms.

Fauna & Flora

Countless varieties of plant and animal collected from across the galaxy and organised in such a way that they can only interact with other organisms in neutral ways, ensuring no organism can wipe out another. In some cases the organisms are separated by invisible but impassable barriers, the nature of which differ by species present.
