Halkas was born in Cullfield and comes from a low income family. He never had money for school or a proper education in his youth, he mostly worked on his father's farm until he turned 18 and traveled to Fangorn to join the Trugarian Military Academy to become a Tru Guard. He spent three years in the academy before returning to Cullfield where he slowly worked his ways up the ranks. He had reached the rank of general in A4 652 and was the leader on the Rothwell corruption case.
