Fire
Paragon of the Destructive
The Aspect of Fire, referred to as Excil in Low Athrixiaii, is one employed by every culture across Almata. Excil is a favorite among battle mages for obvious reasons, as few substances turn as readily to violence as flame. However, fire can also heal and cauterize wounds, and it is common practice for healers to learn a few Facets to assist in fighting infections. Similarly, fire is crucial in most alchemical reactions, making the Ember Alchemists in Tavrin among the greatest in the west. Oxygen is crucial in the creation of fire, and as such most spells will not function in areas of little to no breathable air. However, fire mages of great power can employ Facets utilizing the oxygen found in water to overcome this barrier.
In traditional Azarian symbology Excil is associated with the color red, while Thassacartan cultures associate Excil with the triangle. Common terms for Excil mages include flame mages, onizael, pyraurge, and infernomancer.
