Almacia
Almacia is the result of a great, divine being that gave up its body so that all things in existence could come to be. While there are many worlds, realms, gods, creatures, and so on that exist, Almacia itself is something of a heart, a crossroads that easily connects to all realms. The gods themselves feel inexplicably drawn to Almacia, understanding that whichever among them become the sole patron deity of the world will be granted a power to rule over all the others.
However, Almacia is unique in that it seems to sap the strength of the gods themselves, weakening them so that they are in danger of falling to other deities, and so many gods only stay personally on the world for as long as they need to complete business before retreating back to whichever realm they have made their own, recovering the power of divinity that had been drained from them. In doing so, the gods have learned that the best way to try and make Almacia theirs is to rule through proxy, mortal species of their creation that will fight their wars for them, until only the single remaining group will stand that will call upon their god.
Yet outside the understanding or expectations of the gods, these mortal races grow, rising and falling on their own, species changing patron deities through either outside intervention of a competing god or through their own personal desires to follow one they believe is more in alignment with their individual goals, proving to be more willful than they themselves ever expected.
