Almiposa
The embodiment of self-perception; living engines of mana; solid ghosts
Basic Information
Anatomy
Almiposa vary wildly in appearance - they are a representation of how they perceive themselves. Most Almiposa take the form of humans with unusual traits, but some can be other kinds of creatures.
Genetics and Reproduction
Almiposa cannot reproduce traditionally - every Almiposa is a reincarnation of a human on Earth. Not every human who dies on Earth becomes an Almiposa, and the criteria for who becomes an Almiposa when they die is unknown.
Growth Rate & Stages
Almiposa do not age - they can die from being injured or starving, but they stay the same age physically.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Almiposa eat mana. Specifically, mana that is the same color as their own soul. Whenever an Almiposa eats someone’s mana, they have the mana take the form of a food that means a lot to the person - the food itself doesn’t have to be significant, just the memory associated with the food.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Almiposa live alongside the humans and other creatures of Alma. Some Almiposa will band together due to their shared experiences on Earth, but some would rather incorporate themselves into the Almian society.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The unique and varied Vigors that Almiposa possess have been used as the foundation for Alma's advanced technology, thanks to the discovery of Mementonium.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Each Almiposa has a unique supernatural ability called a Vigor, correlating to their soul. Manifestations of this ability are the color of their soul. These abilities can vary wildly, from pyrokinesis to psychometry to having an innate connection with technology. Almiposa can also have other minor abilities as long as they believe they have those abilities (ex. Almiposa with wings can generally fly).
Civilization and Culture
Common Taboos
It's considered rude to ask an Almiposa how they died as a human. The experience of dying is usually very stress-inducing for them.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Every Almiposa has a tattoo-like mark somewhere on their body, called a Seal. It resembles a cartesian plane and some kind of mathematical curve, like a hyperbola or an ellipse. The Seal is also the same color as the Almiposa's soul.
