Scalebreaker
One of the most infamous weapons used during the dwarves’ purge of the newly damned dragons was the warhammer known as Scalebreaker. This copper and silver colored hammer became legendary for the number of dragons that fell to it, as well as for the organization that shares it name.
Origin
Scalebreaker was originally crafted several decades before the Damnation occurred. When a rogue dragon began attacking towns along the eastern shore, one of its victims was the daughter of the warrior Kor Valdish. Vowing revenge, he had a mighty warhammer crafted from the finest steel and orihalcum. Once completed, he sought out the rogue dragon and, through a vicious battle, avenged his daughter’s death. Upon his return home, the weapon was hung above the mantle, its piercing claw caked with dried blood and a shining scale still lodged between the prongs of its crushing head. The Purge
When the dwarves rallied together to begin capturing and destroying the dragons, it was one of Kor Valdish's grandsons that first carried Scalebreaker into battle. It was quickly established that this was no mere weapon, but a true dragon killer. It imbued its wielder with a supernatural sense for tracking down dragons, and could cut down even the hardiest of dragons. It earned its name within weeks, and not long after The Scalebreakers were officially born. Once the purge was complete, the hammer was given to the new leader of the Scalebreakers as a symbol of his station. The group's doyens continued to wield the hammer until the group was officially disbanded, after which it was kept within their headquarters, displayed in honor as it had been after its first use.Fate
As the Scalebreakers fell into disrepute, several of the members made attempts at recapturing the glory of the days during the purge. One of the more disastrous attempts was by a small group of dwarves attempting to find a rumored "hidden city" of dragons within the mountain range of the Spine. Taking Scalebreaker and traveling deep into the mountains, they were never heard from again. Several attempts have been made to locate the lost group and Scalebreaker, but while no others have gone missing, the weapon remains unfound to this day. While rumors within the organization claimed the group found the hidden city and were overwhelmed by the renegade dragons, after the Dragon Rebellion it was confirmed no such city exists.
