Phoenix

Mythical creatures mistakenly sought after by ajburers for their supposed regenerative properties, the Phoenix is an avian with many legends and myths surrounding it. They typically live in small or large oases, in the middle of the hottest deserts in the world. Extremely adept to heat, these birds will often wander around the burning sands around their oases homes. Though they can survive the heat, they do need large amounts of water to survive, and as such live next to oases, rivers and other smaller bodies of water. Phoenixes are large, roughly six-foot tall birds with huge wingspans and very colorful red, yellow and orange feathers giving them a fiery look. Phoenix feathers seem to decay and lose their color quite rapidly, and turn brown or black after only a moth or so. To combat this, phoenixes grow two sets of feathered bodies at any one time and at regular intervals once the second pair of feathers has grown, roughly once a month, they will shed their old feathers in a dazzling display which myths and tales have usually described as a "fiery death", and fly away with their new set of pristine, young fiery feathers. While some say this may be also double down as some sort of mating ritual, its primary purpose is to shed their decayed feathers. Thanks to this expiration date, phoenix feathers have become extremely valuable as abjuration ingredients. Somehow, phoenix feathers seem to be an extremely potent source of healing, which is why abjurers often pay exorbitant prices just to obtain a couple of them, or better yet, a real specimen.
