Gea'sun's Manor

Written by GMJaraxus-527

Resting at the heart of the great capital city of Morkae, the Gea'sun's Manor has evolved over time to become the impressive mansion it is today. The most elaborately designed, decorated, and outfitted structure in the entire city, it is a testament to the growth that the Genasi people have had since their established independence. The Gea'sun, his Family members, and several of the Gea'sun's staff reside here when staying in the area. Foreign affairs and much other national business is conducted here, and serves as the entrance into the Hall of Gea'suns, where the previous leaders of Sul'ban are honorably laid to rest.

Design

All of the trim and architecture within the Manor is elegantly shaped stone, sculpted to resemble the various elements of nature. This decor gives an organic appearance to the interior, despite it's geometric layout. The main body of the Manor is a nearly square rectangle, with a square wing on either side, set closer to the front side.

Entries

Besides the main doors in the front, there are many tall glass windows set along the walls of each floor, doors leading out to the roof of each wing of the Manor, and a rear door leading to a balcony that hangs 30 ft above the river water. For security, each door and window has a sealing enchantment that prevents it from being opened. Around that is a Detect Magic enchantment which will alert the caster when magic affects the area near it. A crystal orb holds energy that sustains the enchantments and can be found in the Mage's Quarters of the Manor.

Sensory & Appearance

Windows and torches provide plenty of day and night light for the interior, and the elemental adornments all around create a sea-breeze atmosphere throughout the Manor, especially strong wherever Kae'eal happens to be.

Denizens

Kae'eal Bilithei the Gea'sun of Sul'ban
Monillian Baj'ra the Researcher/Librarian
Juun'tivus Mar'kavar the City Guard Captain
Lorringdar Mabell the Dwarven Emissary
Tean'tellus Mafae the Gea'sun's Aide

Contents & Furnishings

The main hall takes up the front half of the mid-section in the Manor. Sculptures and stairs line the walls between the doors leading off into the wings of the building, and a large fountain chandelier hangs in the middle of the space. A large gathering/meeting space takes up the lower two floors of the back half, which features several long tables lined with chairs, and a reserved seat for the Gea'sun at the head of the center table. Cultural tapestries and artfully crafted wall sconces decorate the area. The floor above this space is where the Gea'sun's personal chambers are; bedroom, bathroom, private meeting room, personal library, and office space. The left wing of the building is where much of the research and political studies are conducted. The Gea'sun's Aide office takes up the first floor of this wing, and the floor above is where the Researcher and Librarian works. The third floor is the rooftop garden. In the right wing, the Ambassador's office takes up the first floor. Emissaries and political guests stay here with comfortable living space in the rightmost section of this wing. The floor above is where the City Guard offices are located, and the third floor is the other rooftop garden.

Valuables

In the back of the City Guard offices, there is a vault where a small treasury can be found. The Gea'sun's personal quarters have various valuable antiques and treasures on display. Research and books that could fetch a high price in the right hands are scattered about the left wing of the Manor. At the back of the main gathering space is the entrance to the Hall of Gea'suns, which is the resting place of the past leaders and the treasures that were lain to rest along with them.

Hazards & Traps

Each of the fountains and sconces in the building are a disguised suppression mechanism. On a command, they will spray water at an individual or group of individuals like a firehose, blinding, deafening, and staggering their targets.

Special Properties

The interior of the main gathering space is enchanted with a magic-dampening effect that is nearly undetectable but prevents any spells from being cast within it's field.
In the main hall, there is a combination of rotations of different sculptures orientations that will open up  the floor to reveal a hidden passage. No one knows who put it there, or what could be inside...

Architecture

The three story, double winged complex incorporates each type of element into the decor of it's design, and almost takes on the likeness of a temple more than a mansion. Each wing on either side of the main structure bears a flat top with gardens and a patio that overlooks the river water.

History

The manor began as the first permanent structure in the region that would come to be known as the city of Morkae. It was a simple building where the political influencers of early Sul'ban would meet with leaders of foreign nations. As Sul'ban grew, more and more citizens came to the area for the opportunity to interact and trade with those visiting from nearby lands. Expansion of residences in the area began to increase rapidly, and as the demands of the leaders of Sul'ban evolved, so did the Manor in which their business was conducted. The Hall of Gea'sun's was completed beneath the Manor before it's final and largest expansion, the addition of the wings to either side of the structure.
