Not the Earth we live on, but a distant place. A huge planet in a lonely dance around its Motherlight, Muusthae. Its surface is strewn with vast oceans and vast continents, rivers and mountains and islands all between. Life is abundant across much of the planet, the rivers and oceans teeming with fishes, the forests full of both predators and prey, the mountains and plains home to both familiar and strange creatures. Vast Kingdoms are spread across the lands and the seas, composed of many of the different peoples that inhabit the planet.

The Dwarves often dwell in mountain cities cut deep into the rock, some even living their entire lives there. They mine and smith and grow their food in vast underground caverns, many Dwarven cities being comepletely self-sufficient. Dwarves are often fighting the Wyrms, demon children of Behemoth, who also dwell in the mountains and hills.

The Fae, who are naturally beings of magic, live among the others or in small colonies of their own kind. They are usually peaceful, but will band together as a people in battle, their great numbers a key to their strength. They often fight with Goblins, the demon spawn of the Dragons, who attack in crazed groups, stealing and clobbering and filthying the Fae colonies.

The Humans dwell in great cities on the land, and are arguably the most intelligent and violent of the mortal races, starting more wars than even they can fight. They are spread far and wide, and rule many kingdoms. They are a majority of the magic users in the world, in both the dae'Ahlsae and the a'Vaeae.

The Nightshades are not often seen of the surface of the world, preferring their cavernous fortresses in the deep Below. They are cunning and lethal fighters who use many poisons and traps to their advantage. They very rarely have battle magic capability, but possess other arcane tricks such as invisibility, bursts of great speed, and very rarely, shadow warping. They also hold control over many Portals, their main means of going between the surface and the Below.
