The Abyssal Citadel

Purpose / Function

This fortress serves as seat of House Leonheart, as well as their fortress and base for any operations, and, by that, is the seat of the Empress of Alldras. The citadel itself also serves as gateway to the rift between hell and the physical world, it guards and protects the entrance to purgatory and the deeper levels of the citadel itself. Noone passes the rift without going through the citadel first.

Entries

The only entry to the abyssal citadel via normal means is the giant, metallic gate in front of the citadel, protected by guards and locked almost constantly, unless opened for those visitors capable of opening it via secret means only known to said individuals, or invited by the Empress herself. Aside from that, the gateway to hell poses another "possible" entrance, however it might be even more improbable to approach the citadel via the rift.

Sensory & Appearance

People entering the fortress are greeted by an eloquent aura of unsettling ambiance. Constant rattling of chains, the grinding of clockwork, roaring of fire and similar sounds accompany the rather beatuifully designed interior, everything kept in a color scheme of red and black. Its surprisingly warm in the citadel, the smell of molten metal and ash are lingering faintly in the air.

Architecture

The citadel is built from black stone from an unknown source, alongside with various different abyssal metals. To say that it is impenetrable is an understatement: Any form of siege weapon or magic falls flat against its walls, its doors only open with the Empresses permission. Its a giant tower of clockwork, steam and mechanics, driven by brimstone and hellfire of the various forges. Nyrs personal forge, the abyssal forge, resides in the red centre of the tower, right beneath her throne room where her seat, the molten throne resides.

History

This building wasnt built like others, apparently, it pre-existed in a different realm. Nyr did as much as use her magical powers to summon it to this world, re-creating her royal seat in Alldras to the stone.
