Fulguraunt
This small blue scaled lizard is notable for its ability to store and excel electrical energy from the crystalline horn on its nose.
Legends say that the Fulguraunt was made when a great mage in the ancient past cast a mighty spell to shrink the Blue Dragons, which doesn't appear to be true.
Basic Information
Anatomy
This quadrapeadel lizard has splayed legs ending in four toed feet. Their scales cover their whole body and are a mottled pale blue that gets darker towards the spine.
Cretaceous spines line its back and brow ridge and on the tip of its blunt nose it has a horn that appears to be made of a jagged, raw yellow crystal.
They average just over a metre from tip to tail.
Genetics and Reproduction
A solitary creature, the Fulguraunt mates briefly and rarely, the female looks after the clutch of eggs until their primary horns emerge and they can learn to channel electricity.
Growth Rate & Stages
After they hatch, it will take approximetly four months before this electromagnetic abilities develop, once their horn emerges and they learn how to harness that energy, they will be left to fend for themselves.
A Fulguraunt can expect to live fifteen to twenty years in the desert.
Ecology and Habitats
They thrive on the sand-dunes, harnessing the static build up from the movement of the sand to charge their electricity stores and the heat to warm their cold blood.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Fulguraunt uses its horn to discharge a bolt of electrical energy that can stun or even kill its prey, they can fire this off at a range of around five metres, and will eat anything from the larger insects to desert dwelling mammals.
