Turn of the Pyre

"Ya know why we're called da Red Forest Tribe? Well it ain't cus we're from Ol' Oram's Orchard. Har!" - The Bear King
One day a year, every tree in The Praery Woods sheds its fall leaves and sits vulnerably awaiting fresh buds to grow. When the forest took up a majority of the Northeast it was not uncommon for an accidental, but small and otherwise insignificant, fire to burn a few trees around a mismanaged campfire. Nearby humans, after the settling of Arrlonde, increased their logging efforts. Unknowingly, they continued through the short week-long autumn as the tree's leaves began to change. On the day the leaves fell, multiple logging camps set out to clear away more of the forest. Accidental or not, several of these camps, cutting into the barren trees started small fires. The fires spread uncontrollably, spreading far and connecting with each other across the southwestern border of the forest.

The Bear King and his tribe did what they could to control the flames, aiding the loggers, though their arrogance was the cause. Even with the two groups working together, nothing could be done to stop the ever-hungry wildfire. Having lost hope The Bear King went to warn Eirastir, their town directly in danger. Queen Na'daer, not one to be uninformed, had already sent her mages to quench the fires of the Northeaster borders. Together, the three groups worked to stop the fires. Almost a full turn of the moon, the fires burned through the forest leaving nothing but ash and misery in their wake before the final flame burnt out.

The Praery Woods, now a fraction of the size it was, bloomed on the first day of the new month. The groups made a pact to protect the surviving trees. The humans would dismantle their logging camps. The Bear King would name his tribe The Red Forest Tribe. Queen Na'daer would work closely with the Bear King to protect the forest from within.
