The Shimmering Isles

Set south of the eastern continent of Aliria in the tropical seas, The Shimmering Isles are a breeding ground for some of the most diverse flora and fauna in the world. It is far removed from the closest port and has yet to be settled. This combined with its regular temperature and diverse tropical landscape makes for an ideal location for many exotic and wonderous species. Some maps have the islands' location marked in one spot, while others have it somewhere far different. Only a handful of well-trained sailors have said to have landed on The Shimmering Shores. Those that claim to, speak of intense beauty and constant awe of what they've seen.

The creatures of the Isles are said to range in size incredibly. From tiny insects to colossal gentle giants, the islands are teeming with life of all sorts. Some sailors have said they mistook giant turtles for mountains on the islands. Even more, have said they almost stepped on teams of horses the size of mice of all colors in a rainbow. Some creatures even have the capability of thought and reason having said to have reached out to ships lost at sea guiding them to the Shimmering Shores. These same creatures are able to speak directly into your mind, although most of these accounts involve heat stroke as well.

The flora of The Shimmering Isles is what gives them their name. Shimmering in the daytime light, most plants have a beautiful sheen. An oil produced that shimmers in the light, gives ample hydration to those who consume it. This oil is said to be intoxicating but has yet to be brought back to mainland ports. With no humanoids to cause destruction the various species of plants have grown to unfathomable heights. Trees extending into the sky itself. Flowers bigger than most ships. Even the odd carnivorous plant will catch unsuspecting prey. Sailors have said to have seen colors they could not describe and have not seen elsewhere.
