Feast of the Pumpkin King

Every Autumn, as the nearby villages and towns bring their yearly harvests into Amberfall to barter and sell, the Open Lord and Nobles organize for large feasts in the streets across the entire city. Randomly chosen, a member of the small council dons the traditional (albeit slightly crude and terrifying) garb that the Pumpkin King wore every harvest, then roams the streets in a large pumpkin-shaped wheelhouse giving pumpkin pies to all tables set for the event. Recent years have seen changes to the ceremonial outfit that must be worn to scary fewer children.

Named for the great "Pumpkin King," who brought pumpkins, pumpkin pies, and all sorts of pumpkin-infused foods ending a year-long famine that struck the city after a terrible natural disaster, the festival celebrates his deeds and the importance of the day. Pumpkins are the highlight of the feast, but there are many other foods available as people are encouraged to make food for their neighbors if they can spare it. All manner of autumnal foods are prepared by the denizens of Amberfall as everyone gathers to feast and remember the day. This is subsequently the day with the lowest crime of the entire year.

Participants

A member of the city's small council must be chosen at random to be the year's Pumpkin King. They must wear an outfit, now changed from its original form, to resemble the Pumpkin King as he did when he broke the famine of Amberfall. Riding around in a Pumpkin shaped wheelhouse, the small council member and yearly "Pumpkin King" must distribute pumpkin related foods to all tables set across the city. The feast can sometimes last days and is only called off once the year's Pumpkin King has fulfilled their duty and served every table.
