The Thlanari Expanse

The Thlanari Expanse is a major region in the Island of Thalnar on Homesha. It is most known for having one of the oldest civilizations on Homesha, Thlanar, and its very frequent and violent natural disasters. Thlanar is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, however, not many travel to it for its nature as it is perilous for tourists. It is a coastal region surrounded by volcanic mountains.

Etymology

The region is named after its oldest and largest civilization, Thlanar. It was given the name by the ancient Thlanari Empire (known as Thalarin in most native languages) around 133 thousand years ago. In the Thlanarian civilization's language, it means "Land of the Thlanar", or "Thlanari Land" depending on context.

History

The Thlanari Expanse's history goes back to around 138 thousand years ago when the Thlanari culture first appeared. The Thlanari culture was very diverse, with many different subcultures and other groups which eventually formed their own culture.

First Thlanari Culture

The First Thlanari Culture appeared around 138 thousand years ago. They used basic tools made out of stones, bones, and wood. During this time, Thlanaris discovered Qanta, a spice that became heavily traded throughout Homeshan history. Large tribes and states that controlled the trade routes and the production of Qanta gained large amounts of power and influence. The line of the current major Thlanari culture can be directly traced back to this culture. The first Thlanari culture is called "Thalanar".

Second Thlanari Culture

The Second Thlanari Culture appeared 135 thousand years ago. It appeared while the First Thlanari Culture was still very dominant. The Second Thlanari Culture was very different from the first, as they were very warlike. The Second Thlanari culture is generally and insultingly called "Musin", which means "The Enemy", or "The Enemies" in most native languages. The Musin appeared from the east and fought basically every single Thalanar state and tribe in many wars and battles. So people don't like them.

History With Natural Disasters

The Thlanari Expanse suffers from natural disasters much more than any region in Homesha, so the locals were forced to adapt.

Cities

Thlanari cities adapted to natural disasters, making them very diverse, fascinating architects from all over Alhambarain.

City Placement

Thlanaris began placing their cities very close to the shorelines of the Thlanari Expanse. This is because shoreline cities can avoid Hydrobreezes and Lava Precipitation. Dangerous Hydrobreezes generally occur at mid-distance from shore, so, if cities were places at shore, they could avoid Hydrobreezes much more easily. And since most volcanic mountains are at the edge of the Thlanari Expanse, they are much safer from the threat of Lava precipitation.

Buildings

The Thlanaris began making the bottom of the pillars of their buildings very sharp so they would stick in the ground, and not float during Gravity Storms.

Natural Disasters In the Thlanari Expanse

The Thlanari Expanse suffers from natural disasters much more than the other regions on Homesha. This is because it is surrounded by Volcanic mountains and the sea. Two wind currents push towards it from the west and east, which makes Volcanic Lava and Hydrobreezes go towards the Thlanari Expanse.    Many gravitational anomalies have been found in the Thlanari Expanse, which make Gravity Storms much more common in the region.
