Fors ór Valhalla

Literally translates to 'Waterfall of Valhalla'. This is located on the westernmost border of Alfheim and is so isolated that hardly any civilization is anywhere near it. This waterfall is tied up in ancient Alven legend, as when the first inhabitants of Alfheim, the Light Elves, came across it, the location's great natural beauty and flourishing flora and fauna told them that it had to have some sort of connection with Valhalla, the place where the noble dead are taken when the day of their death arrives. Valhalla was said to be incredibly beautiful, filled with palaces and lush oases for the fallen warriors to enjoy. So this waterfall that was surrounded by species of flowers and trees that had never been seen before and served as the habitat for species of animals that belonged to legend was undoubtedly tied to this sacred place. The Light Elves cared for it greatly, never allowing any town or village to destroy its natural beauty and construct their civilization near its borders. The Light Elves often drank of its water, convinced that it reinforced their immune systems, improved their physical condition, and made their odds of conceiving a child or even multiple children more likely. The great legend that came along with this waterfall was that if one lived among the animals for four days, then bathed in the sacred water on the fourth day, the Valkyrie would descend from Valhalla and take them to the great hall before their time of death. Countless people tried this, only for some to return home disappointed, while others simply disappeared, which fuelled the thought that they truly had been taken to Valhalla by the Valkyrie fleets. In modern Alfheim, the stories surrounding the Fors ór Valhalla live on, but people are less obsessed with trying to make them come true. Even still, they respect the land and make sure it is maintained, as they still view it as a sacred part of their history.

Geography

The location is a waterfall, as the name dictates. The water is fresh and able to be consumed by humans and animals alike. It flows into a small pool at the base of the falls, which is where people would bathe in an attempt to gain their way to Valhalla. The waterfall is surrounded by large trees and is shrouded from the view of civilians by draping vines. The flora is rare - found nowhere else in Alfheim - but its vibrant colours and floral scents make it a complete treat to visit the site itself.

Fauna & Flora

The names of the flora and fauna have been lost in the language of the ancient Light Elves, as many of the manuscripts about the Fors ór Valhalla were destroyed in an attempt to keep the area a secret from anyone else. Even still, much of the flora is simply known as In Blóm ór Valhalla, or The Flowers of Valhalla. The fauna supposedly consisted of deer with giant antlers, birds with long tail feathers and vibrant colours, and wolves of unusual sizes, along with other species. Once again, though, the names were lost in translation, so they are now known as the In Kvikindi ór Valhalla

Natural Resources

Although the trees towered high in the sky and natural grains and seeds grew abundantly in the lush grass, the Light Elves held it with such respect that they refused to let any of them be harvested.
