Shongeeri Cat

Shongeeri cats are domesticated jungle cats used by the Kong'sha Tribes as guards against jungle predators. They are beloved pets that show incredible loyalty to the family that earns its pride-bond. The cats are particularly good at detecting the stealthy Sleen'ka Python, using the exceptional hearing imparted by their over-large ears. Lana screamed and turned to cover Kaila's body, intending to protect her from the large cat. Instead, she found herself facing Kaila's gaping mouth, her throat covered with the shiny, scaly body of a giant jungle snake.

Shongeeri cats are bred for purpose more than appearance. Thus they don't have much variation in appearance. Instead, they are often given unique collar-like necklaces to differentiate them. Based on their behavior upon recieving such necklaces, they enjoy them very much. The cats are particularly receptive to Calling.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Shongeeri cat is a large, lynx-like feline with large, tufted ears. It has sparse, elongated dark brown spots on its medium brown fur. Its pupils are often dark brown or black, though golden or amber eyes are not unusual. It has a triangular face with a flared muzzle, giving it a larger bite. Its eyes are set deep into its skull, protecting them from swinging branches or striking attacks. Its paws are oversized for its body, with extremely flexible claws. These allow it to grasp and climb large tree trunks more easily. It has large, heavily muscled bodies meant for feats of strength, such as carrying medium-sized prey while climbing tall trees. It has a long tail with a leonine tuft at the tip, which resembles a kind of bird. The cat uses this to draw in smaller omnivorous creatures to prey on.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Shongeeri cats are obligate carnivores, though they will eat most kinds of meat without fuss. Fish are a treat which they enjoy, but the lighter flesh cannot sustain them over long periods.
