Kong'sha Tribes

The jungle people, based in the Shonga jungles to the southeast of Alfeari City. These people are characterized by a close-knit society lead by their understanding and respect for the natural world around them.   The Kong'sha are mostly light brown-skinned people with brown or black hair.

Culture

Average technological level

Despite their reputation as "savages" and "primative," the Kong'sha have developed a complex level of technology that works with their environment. This is most often seen in their habitations, with their ability to maintain herd-beasts in their treetop homes, and in complicated communication systems that span miles.

Common Dress code

The heat and need to move around obstacles quickly have resulted in a culture that values minimal clothing. Most of the garb of the Kong'sha are ritualized rather than common, though it is considered rude to have uncovered genitals without good reason. Additionally, women often wear a breast band to make running and jumping more comfortable.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

The Kong'sha have virtually no gendered roles. This unusual system stems from a long history of a people that survived in an extremely hostile environment. The best person for the job had to be the one to do it, no matter what the gender, age, etc.   Thus, there are very few gender assumptions and no restrictions on behavior or position based on gender.

Courtship Ideals

Courtship is dictated by the females. Males will do their best to attract a female's attention, but the women choose the speed, nature and direction of any relationship. While courtship can begin as early as 16 years old, it is not generally accepted for any permenant/life relationship to be set before the 20th year. This is said to be due to the Five Spirits each pairing up twice, once for childhood (family) and once for love (mating).

Relationship Ideals

Women often die in childbirth due to the environment being condusive to high infection rates, and a significant number of women die protecting their babies. Because of this, men outnumber the women by a relatively large margin.   This discrepency in number makes polyandrogynous relationships common. It is so common, in fact, that desirable women are simply assumed to take at least two husbands.
