The Griffons Black
The Griffons Black are a collection of outlaws. that exist on the fringe of society, recognized by their signature black leather and hide pelt armor and feathered edges of their attire. They exist primarily to ride and cultivate the relationship of the partnership between the rider and his steed, whilst also working as mercenaries and vigilantes for those who need help that they can't get from the knights or soldiers of their kingdoms.
Structure
- Elde Rider: The Elde Rider is the one rider that all Griffons have chosen as their leader, to guide them and see to the constant upkeep of the Steed/Rider Pact. The current Elde Rider is the grey half-orc cavalier fighter Razor.
- Rider: A Rider is a full-fledged member of the Griffons who has bled and rode with the Riders for over the year it takes for one to rise out of Whelphood.
- Whelp: Whelps are new members who seek to become Riders, and must spend a year tending to and caring for the different mounts and steeds of the Riders when they can't do it themselves.
- Torryns "Razor" Harbordahl: A male half orc cavalier fighter and the current Elde Rider of the gang, Razor has a tift of silvery hair with grey skin and golden eyes with deep brown scleras. He wielders a Greatsword and Lance, both named Marie.
- Ethlenor "Mama Shiv" Reeds: A female elf swashbuckler rogue who has reached old age in her elven life time, seeking to have her last days be full of adventure and attunement with nature now that all of her children have gotten their own lives to live. She has pure grey and white hair shorn into a bob cut with pale skin and bright gold eyes.
- Jameson "Dirk" Coutre: A male air genasi land druid who is slightly neurotic and a tad socially awkward, he is the gang's Steedspeaker who makes sure all of the creatures they ride on are taken care of and protected. He has sky blue skin, dark blue curly hair in a mohawk, and wide sea-green eyes with mutton chops.
- Laurie "Paring" Dawn-Tide: A female scourge aasimar beastmaster ranger who serves as the group's work finder and collector, having an abrasive attitude and suspicious outlook on other people. She has long blonde hair, olive skin, and blue eyes.
- Joseph "Needles" Ames: A male human whelp who works alongside the riders to take care of the mounts. He was adopted by Sin but then decided to go and find his own way in the mortal world due to the constant fear of the outside dangers of the Court of Night.
Culture
- Everywhere is Home: The Griffons don't relish in property and live on the fringes of society, only entering into cities to look for work, make money, and settle down their horses in proper stables for a time being. Sometimes in the earlier days, they would have a Rider's Haven where all members could go to rest, but there is no current Haven as of recent.
- Life is For Living: The Griffons believe that life is to be experienced without oppression, and thusly take work to help folks out who have suffered under the hand of others. This often sees them acting as bodyguards, mercenaries, committing larceny and vandalism, and many other crimes for those who need it done. They are also avid protectors of children and animals due to their innate connection to their mounts.
- Rider and Steed are One and Equal: Riders treat their Steeds with an immense amount of respect, earning their trust and the right to ride atop them rather than breaking and forcing a steed to bend to their will. Most steeds are usually horses but sometimes a Rider can earn a different sort of mount.
