Aldervein Suggested Classes

Artificer

Suggested subclasses: Alchemists, Artillerists, Battlesmith.

Artificers would fit in well in SwitchWick , but could also find home in NyLoch if looking to make a scrappier character. If you are looking for a character tied into a military presence then look into ScrapWhittle .

Barbarian

Suggested subclasses: Ancestral Guardian, Storm Herald, Totem Warrior, Zealot.

Barbarians of Aldervein would traditionally be Frontierian , with locations like SunderSap or MarrowWeave being the easiest fit. Ancestral Guardian would work nicely with the Skelden people, as they have a deep-rooted tradition in family and are more naturally open to the supernatural. Storm herald would be a suitable fit with port towns like SaltMarsh

Bard

Suggested Subclasses: Eloquence, Glamour, Lore, Swords, whispers

Bards can be found from all walks of life in Aldervein. Yet the Skelden make great bards. Music in Aldervein is very broad, it’s possible to find a lute playing fairy, a Warforged on the organ, or even a Aasimar on the electric guitar. The point is, if it’s an instrument, then its possible.

Cleric

Suggested Subclasses: All

Religion is seeped within the story of Aldervein. All divine domains fit within Aldervein. Forge and War domain clerics could be found in ScrapWhittle or the Aldervein Army, and would be well suited with Helm. Nature and tempest clerics would be loyal to the old gods, which are banned in urban society. Twilight and Grave clerics are a natural fit in the dark continent.

Druid

Suggested Subclasses: Dreams, Land, Moon

Aldervein has a past connected to the fey and fey wilds. Druids can be found in many of the treacherous landscapes that dot the continent. Silverstand and Thornglade would be the most common but the marshes, mountains and other woods would also fit in their territory.

Fighter

Suggested Subclasses: Eldrich Knight, Gunslinger, Rune Knight.

Fighters could be loyal to the crown, a mercenary escorting goods across The Dregs, or a champion to the fey.

Paladin

Suggested Subclasses: Devotion, Redemption, Ancients, Vengeance

Paladins are usually the faithful servants of the gods, but in this world you could play a paladin longing for power like in the old days of The Piety or a charismatic courtier of NightVale .

Ranger

Suggested Subclasses: Gloom Stalker, Hunter, Monster Slayer, Swarmkeeper

Rangers are masters of the wildlands. They are accustomed to the haunted forests and know their way around the dangerous swamps and moors that dominate the land. All Ranger classes fit well, although they may feel out of their element with in the tri-cities.

Rogue

Suggested Subclasses: Assassin, Inquisitive, Mastermind, Swashbuckler, The Revived.

Rogues may be the all-star class that shine both mechanically and thematically for this campaign. You can’t go wrong with an aristocratic spy, or scummy thief working for a notable guild.

Sorcerer

Suggested Subclasses: Shadow Magic, Storm Sorcery.

There should be plenty of Inspiration of Sorcerous origins in a world like Aldervein. Perhaps your magical powers came after selling yourself for experimentation in NyLoch ? Or maybe the dark corners in the attic of your childhood home would often lead you to the shadowfell?

Warlock

Suggested Subclasses: The Archfey, The fiend, Hexblade, The Undying

Warlocks offer an excellent opportunity to tie your character to the dark gods that manipulate from behind mirrors and under beds. If you are planning to play a character with an Archfey pact, you may have struck a deal with one of the eccentric queens of the Seelie or Unseelie court

Wizard

Suggested Subclasses: All except Necromancy

The schools of magic are divided into two groups; the Arcane and The Mystic. Arcane magics include Evocation, Conjuration, Abjuration, and transmutation. These can be learned in Briston and are considered to be the “respected” magical practices. The Mystical magics are home to Divination, Enchantment, and illusion. These are not traditionally taught in schools, as they are somewhat new to the region but may be learned from the Skelden .
